What it is ....
This is a pilot program in response to requests I get regularly based on the 'makerspace' model... if things go well ... we'll expand it.

As with our workshops and instruction, Hammered Heart Forge exists to encourage and develop people to become the CREATORS we're born to be. HHF is here to help fill the VOID of CREATIVE OPPORTUNITIES we all live with. The goal of this program is to make resources available to CREATE.

I'm keeping things as simple as possible without a lot of definition covering various circumstances or 'what if's' ... We'll add relevant structure as needed. Pricing and costs can get unnecessarily complicated. See below for structure ...

The first rule is always SAFETY ... Use your judgement. Ask questions as you have them. SAFETY conscious behavior and good judgement must be exhibited AT ALL TIMES.

how it works ....
The Maker (that's you:) will register for blocks of time to work their personal projects using HHF equipment and resources.
Register for available blocks posted on the workshop calendar ... just as you would for a workshop. Or, get a Punch Card with a number of hours and schedule directly with me
Show up at your day and time .... work your project using our equipment and resources. I'll be there for guidance as necessary.

I must be comfortable with your familiarity and ability to use machines and tools safely. I'll orient/train as necessary if either of us is uncertain.

pricing ...
There are two ways to buy studio time. Book a block, either short or half-day on the workshop calendar .... or .... get a punch card.

To book a block... Go to the workshop calendar, find an Open Studio day that works for you, select either Half-Day or Short Session, pay to confirm. Blocks can be used on days specified as 'Open Studio' on the workshop Calendar

Workshop Calendar, look for Open Studio days

To get a Punch Card ... Punch cards are larger blocks of time at a reduced hourly rate. You'll schedule your preferred times with me via text or email after purchase to arrange your hours/dates.
Punch cards can schedule times outside of those specified on the calendar as our mutual schedules allow.

Punch Card
10 hours - $320

Punch Card Plus
20 hours - $600

additional costs...

Nobody will ever incur any charges they're not aware of prior. Everybody knows I have a deeply rooted, pathological aversion to making money:) Money is not the objective... better, happier, self-sufficient, people are.
Grinding Belts
You may bring your own. Or use mine. HHF belts are $20 each.

My advice on buying belts...
1. Amazon.com. They offer some good belts but only by accident. They also offer terrible belts ...the difference isn't easy to spot. In abrasives, cost determines quality. Two good belts site links below. There's many more but I can only vouch for these.

2. Buy ceramic abrasives ... a bit more expensive but has better durability working in hard metals full of odd heat effects. Other abrasive materials, zirconia, silicon carbide, aluminum oxide, etc ... have their specific advantages and applications ... but I've found that ceramic rarely disappoints.

Gases
Propane for the forges is always an expense. They both cost about $6/hour to operate but any usage an hour or less is not charged. More than that we can talk prior about propane cost. Refilling propane tanks can cost less then half the price of an exchange.

Perishables
I'm not charging for anything like adhesives , soap stone, tape, markers, paint or any of the hundreds of consumable supplies used in the normal course of working. Broken bits, burrs and taps are just normal business, not an expense, not charged.
