Hammered Heart Forge
Sand Casting Workshop

Description

  • Designed for beginners, no experience necessary.

  • Minimum age is 14...participants 14 to 17 must have an adult in attendance.

  • Participation is limited to FIVE participants.

  • We'll be making 2 or 3 castings per participant.

  • Cost is $150 per participant. All materials included.

  • Water, safety glasses and gloves are provided.

What 

This is a hands-on event... most learning will come from doing. we'll be discussing and doing traditional sand casting using molten brass, bronze or aluminum. Safety rules will be thoroughly explained and strictly followed by all participants.

Cast-able Forms

Participants MIGHT be able to use their own forms ... prior approval from Michael is required.  A form should be no larger than 3.5" by 3.5" by 1.5"... or about 18 cubic inches in volume and shaped to permit casting in halves.  Additional charges may apply.  Questions ask Michael.

All sessions times are from 9am until 1pm.

Cost

Workshop cost is $150 per participant.  To register, pick an open date on the Workshop Calendar and follow the prompts.

Where

Workshops are conducted at the Hammered Heart Forge Studio located at 272 Lowell Drive in Sharpsburg.

We're located on a working horse farm please mind the ducks, riders, dogs, geese and other critters on the way in:)

​Important Things to Remember

  • ​Dress for the weather and the environment.  This is a working studio ... dirt, grit, and heat  are always present.

  • Gloves, safety glasses and water are provided. Prescription glasses are fine as worn.

  • Long hair should be tied back or under a hat.

  • Nylon or polyester clothing is unsafe ... cotton, wool, or leather work:)

  • Taking photos/videos is definitely encouraged but mustn't interfere with others working.

  • Those under 17 must be accompanied by a related, responsible adult.

  • Safety rules will be thoroughly explained and strictly followed by all participants.
